" I wanted to  be exposed to cutting-edge technologies and being exposed to the latest practices in the field of finance."

Why did you choose to go abroad?
The choice to pursue Finance training in the U.S. is strongly driven by the strength of its financial system. Therefore for my career development I wanted to  be exposed to Cutting -edge Technologies and being exposed to the latest practices in the field of finance.

How does the U.S. Culture differ from your Culture and what has impressed you so far?
The U.S. Culture has distinct differences from Zimbabwean Culture and basically I believe it' shaped by their unique histories, values and customs. Firstly Americans tend to value direct and straightforward communication, while we may use more indirect communication styles, prioritising politeness and respect.
When we are addressing elders or authority figures, we use more formal titles and last names yet Americans use first names. Time perception,Americans tend to prioritize punctuality and time management whilst we have a more relaxed attitude towards time. Food culture- Americans cuisine is diverse and often emphasises conveniences and fast food, while Zimbabwean cuisine features traditional dishes like sadza and stew.
Family structure- American families often prioritize nuclear families, whilst Zimbabwean may prioritize extended family ties and community. l am overwhelmed by their welcoming, polite and warm attitude. They are very humble and respectful.
Could you take us for a day? What are your routines?
l am up at 6:00am and  I leave home at 7:00am, take a bus to downtown which is about a 10 minutes ride. I catch another bus from downtown to Murfreesboro Pike which takes me another half an hour to get to work. My day starts at 8:00am and ends at 4pm with a 30 minutes break. They provide breakfast and lunch but not always. Sometimes I have my lunch instead. I start my day with certain responsibilities that I have been trained for. I work closely with either my supervisor and the Executive director oversees everything. I have scheduled ongoing training which is basically online and they help me to maneuver within the organizations system. My supervisor usually instructs on tasks to be performed, shadows me and lets me train through observation as well. To be precise it's more about the application of principles of finance to the day to day transactions. My day ends at 4:00pm and I commute back home. The most interesting part is working with experienced professionals who have the expertise in writing stories through numbers.
Why would you encourage someone to do an internship abroad
I would encourage Interning abroad to broaden one's perspective and understanding of different cultures, simply cultural immersion. It also can foster Independence self-reliance and adaptability. In the process you also gain global experience. There is room for provision of networking opportunities to build a global network of contacts and connections. It can also help you to overcome personal challenges in a foreign environment and it builds your character to be resilient and confident. Overall interning abroad can be a valuable experience that can benefit one's personal and professional growth career prospects and opportunities.
If you could express your experience in 3 words ,what would these be?
Enhancing, empowering and transformative.
